Children's Programs

Join us…it’s not necessary to register for programs unless noted. All are welcome!

All children ages 6 & up are invited to join us on the lower level of the Main Library as we present SOLE Hour with certified instructor Steven Delpome on Wednesday, March 1 at 3:45 PM.

Want to try to find the answers to the questions you wonder about?  Are ghosts real?  How big is the sky?  Why do dogs chase cats?  All kids ages 6 and up are invited to come to the SOLE Hour at the Main Library and find some answers.  In the SOLE Hour, the children are in control.  They get to learn about what they want and make decisions together.  They will organize themselves into groups and use computers and the internet to research the questions at hand.  As they find answers, they will use art supplies so they can present what they've learned to each other.  Created by Professor Sugata Mitra of Newcastle University in England, this is the Self-Organized Learning Environment!

There is no need to sign up for this program, but space is limited.  If interested, please plan on arriving early.  The Main Library is located at 318 Kearny Ave. in Kearny, NJ.  For more information about this or other upcoming programs, call the library or visit our website at  For more information on SOLE, please visit
