How do I reserve the pass?
It can be reserved in person at the library at 318 Kearny Avenue or by telephone at 201-998- 2666.
Is there a charge to reserve a pass?
There is no charge to reserve the museum pass but you must leave a $40.00 cash deposit when you pick up the pass, except for the American Museum of Natural History.* The deposit will be refunded when the pass is returned ON TIME. If the pass is not returned ON TIME, a fine of $10 per day will be charged. If the pass is stolen or lost, you may be charged a replacement cost.
Who can reserve a pass?
You must live or work in Kearny and have a Kearny Library card in good standing to place a reservation.
The pass can only be reserved with an adult card by an adult. A pass cannot be reserved with a child’s card. This is also the case for the American Museum of Natural History vouchers.
How many people are admitted to a museum per pass?
It depends on the pass. Call or visit the library for more information.
What is the “Day of Use”?
Day of use is the day you plan on visiting the museum. The pass can be picked up beginning at noon the day prior to the “Day of Use” and MUST be returned by 11:00 a.m. the day after the “Day of Use” except for the American Museum of Natural History*.
Can I cancel my reservations?
Reservations can be cancelled. Please let the library know of a cancellation as soon as possible since others may want to use the museum pass for that day.
Where do I pick up my pass?
The pass must be picked up at the Kearny Public library at 318 Kearny Avenue at the Main Desk no earlier than noon prior to the “Day of Use.” (Check library schedule for prior open day, e.g., prior day for Monday may be Friday or Saturday, depending if the library is open on Saturday that week), except for the American Museum of Natural History*
Do I need my library card to pick up the pass?
Yes, you MUST present the library card that you used when reserving the pass to pick it up.
Where do I return my pass?
The pass must be returned to the Main Desk (DO NOT PUT IN BOOKDROP) by 11 a.m. after the Day of Use. If the library is closed (for example on Saturdays in the summer), the pass must be returned by 11a.m. on the next day the library is open, except for the American Museum of Natural History.*
*The pass for the American Museum of Natural History is now a Voucher. You do not have to leave a deposit or return the pass. You are allowed 2 vouchers per adult library card per year.
